The Paris Riots occurred after an incident where three North African teens were electrocuted after being chased by police officers in Clichy-sous-Bois. The tragedies ignited existing tensions over economic disparity and police harassment in neighborhoods where mostly North African immigrants lived who had been experiencing increasing violence and discrimination at the hands of the French since the 9/11 attacks globally framed Muslim as dangerous.
